Photos You Should Never Have on Your LinkedIn Profile

Profile images

Did you know that your LinkedIn profile is 11 times more likely to be viewed if it has a photo, however this does not mean any type of photo!

As LinkedIn is a professional network, your profile image should also be presented as the professional you. Your first impression plays a massive part on the judgment people will make when they visit your profile and this first impression will be based primarily on you profile photo.

So what type of photo should you never put as your LinkedIn photo. Check the list below!

The Not So Clear Profile Look

People want to see what you actually look like, clearly! They dont want to see a blury, unfocused or even in the dark photo of you. Make sure you take your photo, where there is proper lighting. Natural lighting is best to avoid dark shadows.

The Very Serious Profile Look

Employers want people who are friendly and easy to aproach, along with having a general positive attitude to life. Therefore, a photo of you smiling is much more effective than on with a cold faced one.

Let Me Take a Selfie Profile Look

We all love a selfie now and then but this is a definite no no when it comes to being professional. Even if we can take many until we have found the best angle for that favorable look. Going for that overly posed selfie will give off an unprofessional vibe so it is best you keep them for socail media.

The Retro Profile Look

Employers want to see what you look like in the present for them to build an idea of you, so having a photo of you 10 years ago will not realy portray what you look like now. Make sure your photo is up to date!

The Anonymous Profile Look

The first thing you should do on your LinkedIn account is change the default image on your profile. The first thing your potential employer will see is either an image of you, or, the default image. This could change the decision on whether the employer reads on or not!
